New Line Cinema = an American film studio.
Parent company = Time Warner.

MCM = an American distribution company.

WingNut Films = Peter Jackson's independent film company.



Time Warner is a global conglomerate, meaning that is has enough money and power to green light any  film that it pleases. The Hobbit = £225million.

Fact Of The Week

UK film share 15% of the global box office in 2012.
UK films accounted for 25% of releases in 2012.
British independent films had a 9% share in the UK box office in 2012.
16% share was made by UK co-productions in 2012.
Skyfall was the highest grossing UK co-production in 2012. It made £103million.
The Woman In Black was the highest grossing independent of 2012, making over £20million.
